'The death throes of free speech in Europe begin tomorrow morning'

ESW Copenhagen Nov. 2010

The Time That is Given Us:  the Fight for Free Speech

The International Free Press Society sponsored a conference today in Copenhagen. Below is the speech that was given during the event by Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff (photo © Snaphanen).

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I stand here before you in the city of Copenhagen in the year 2010. This is widely considered to be an enlightened country in the heart of an enlightened continent.

Our basic freedoms have long been guaranteed — first by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as passed by the United Nations in 1948, and then buttressed by the Council of Europe in 1950 through the European Convention of Human Rights, which was later affirmed by the European Union. Our individual countries have additionally codified the same basic rights in their own constitutions.
These rights include the freedom of individual conscience, the right to assemble peaceably, and the right to practice our religion freely, or to have no religion at all. And, perhaps most importantly of all, they include the right to voice our opinions freely and to publish them without hindrance.

Yet freedom of speech is under attack today here in Denmark, as it is in my own country Austria, and indeed all across Europe. Today, in 21st century Western Europe, our right to free speech is being shut down quietly and systematically with an effectiveness that the commissars in the old Soviet Union could only dream of.

A milestone in this ominous totalitarian trend will be reached tomorrow, 28 November 2010, when the member states of the European Union are required to implement an innocuous-sounding legal provision known as the “Framework decision on combating racism and xenophobia”, or, more fully, the “Council Framework Decision 2008/913/JHA of 28 November 2008 on combating certain forms and expressions of racism and xenophobia by means of criminal law.” According to the final article of the Framework Decision, “Member States shall take the necessary measures to comply with the provisions of this Framework Decision by 28 November 2010.”

Why does this matter to the cause of free speech in Europe?

Court Records Prove Hamas Ties To CAIR, ISNA and NAIT: Time To Ban These Groups' Tax-Exempt Status & Links to Our Government

Editorial
Investor's Business Daily
November 26, 2010

Islamofascism: Now that a federal judge has unsealed evidence showing the three most prominent Muslim groups in America support terror, Washington must cut all ties with them.

U.S. District Judge Jorge Solis has ruled there is "ample evidence" to support the Justice Department's decision to blacklist the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as unindicted co-conspirators in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terror trial.

He refused requests to strike their names from the list.

At the trial, which ended in guilty verdicts on all 108 counts, FBI agents testified that ISNA, NAIT and CAIR are fronts for the federally designated terrorist group Hamas, which has murdered countless Israelis and at least 17 Americans.

Remember November 1623

A Lost Thanksgiving Lesson
By John Stossel
RealClearPolitics.com
November 24, 2010

Had today's political class been in power in 1623, tomorrow's holiday would have been called "Starvation Day" instead of Thanksgiving. Of course, most of us wouldn't be alive to celebrate it.

Every year around this time, schoolchildren are taught about that wonderful day when Pilgrims and Native Americans shared the fruits of the harvest. But the first Thanksgiving in 1623 almost didn't happen.

Long before the failure of modern socialism, the earliest European settlers gave us a dramatic demonstration of the fatal flaws of collectivism. Unfortunately, few Americans today know it.

The Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony organized their farm economy along communal lines. The goal was to share the work and produce equally.

That's why they nearly all starved.

Whoopi Is Clueless About Madrassas - If Only She Would Do Her Homework

Recently, Whoopi Goldberg appeared as a guest on the Bill O'Reilly show on Fox. This interview took place following a dust-up between the two personalities on The View during which O'Reilly said "Muslims killed us on 9/11". Goldberg walked off stage in a rage, believing that O'Reilly's comments were racist.  That incident aside, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, but was anyway, when Goldberg said that she didn''t know what a madrassa is. Madrassas have been discussed many times in many venues, yet Goldberg was clueless. What else should we expect, I guess, from starlets who beam their ideas out of Hollywood?  O'Reilly tried to explain that the madrassas are being used to train radical Islamists.

Whoopi needs to do some homework, as do some who read the Huffington Post. Today someone posted the following comment on the Huffington Post:

O'Reilly is spreading ignorance.

The word "madrassa" is Arabic for school, and is commonly used throughout the Arab and Islamic world to refer to any place of learning in the same sense that, in the United States, the word "school" refers to a primary school, a high school or a university. It can be a secular school, a vocational school, a religious school or a technical school.

The negative connotation of the word "madrassa" as it's come to be understood in the English-speaking world--as referring to a place where fundamentalist, Islamic instruction is combined with anti-western vocations, or in the extreme, as a place where terrorists are formed ideologically--is largely an American and British conceit. It is for the most part, but not entirely, inaccurate."”

Oh, really!  Then perhaps Whoopi and the person who penned the above remark should watch the video below and read the accompanying article.  If you're a Whoopi fan, please direct her attention to this BBC video.

Saudi school lessons in UK concern government
BBC.co.uk
November 21, 2010

BBC Panorama found that more than 40 Saudi Students' Schools and Clubs are teaching the official Saudi national curriculum to about 5,000 pupils.

One text book shows how the hands and feet of thieves are chopped off.

The Saudi government said it had no official ties to the part-time schools and clubs and did not endorse them.

However, a building in west London where Panorama obtained one of the text books is owned by the Saudi government.
[snip]
One of the text books asks children to list the "reprehensible" qualities of Jewish people. A text for younger children asks what happens to someone who dies who is not a believer in Islam - the answer given in the text book is "hellfire".

Another text describes the punishment for gay sex as death and states a difference of opinion about whether it should be carried out by stoning, burning with fire or throwing the person over a cliff.

In a book for 14-year-olds, Sharia law and its punishment for theft are explained, including detailed diagrams about how hands and feet of thieves are amputated.

The Legacy of Lincoln and His 'Thanksgiving Proclamation'

Abe Lincoln. A simple man, a great storyteller, a courageous leader even though half of the American people hated him. After listening to these, ask yourself who among our presidential hopefuls today has what it takes to walk in President Lincoln's shoes?

Mexico's Davy Crockett: Don Alejo's Last Stand

Don Alejo's Stand
Editorial
Investor's Business Daily
November 23, 2010

Border War:  Another rancher on the Mexican border was killed this week, this one refusing to bow to cartel orders to abandon his land.  Unlike many, he went down fighting.  Somewhere, Davy Crocket is smiling.

Don Alejo Garza Tamen, 77, may be the first instance of a nation's push-back against the monstrous cartels that are challenging the very existence of the Mexican state.

Like the Tianamen protestor who stood in front of the Chinese tank, his defiance of evil came at great cost.  And to draw an even closer, if imperfect and ironic, parallel, his courage has the resonance of Davy Crockett and the Texas patriots who fought for freedom against impossible odds at the Alamo in 1836.

Judicial Watch Files An Appeal for Joe the Plumber

Private Citizen Subjected to Smear Campaign by Government Officials
By Tom Fitton
BigGovernment.com
November 23, 2010

Can a private citizen be subjected to a smear campaign by government officials for merely questioning a politician? That’s the issue at the heart of the lawsuit on behalf of Joe Wurzelbacher, known to most as “Joe the Plumber.”

A federal district court (erroneously in our view) dismissed Joe’s claims. Judicial Watch lawyers have since filed an appeal for Mr. Wurzelbacher in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Here is why we’re asking the appellate court to review the lower court’s decision, according to our brief, which you can read in its entirety here:
Ultimately, review of the issues in this case is important, not just to hold these state officials accountable for this abuse of their power and the harm inflicted on Mr. Wurzelbacher, but because it goes to the heart of free expression and political participation in this nation.
Private citizens should not have to worry whether their letter, phone call, or simple question to a political candidate will cause them to be targeted for investigation. Mr. Wurzelbacher and all Americans should have the freedom to openly participate in their government without fearing reprisal from partisan government officials.
Now let’s quickly review the facts of this lawsuit.

Supreme Court: Judgement Day for the Kerchner v. Obama Petition for Writ of Certiorari

U.S. Supreme Court confers on Obama eligibility
By Brian Fitzpatrick
WorldNetDaily
November 23, 2010

WASHINGTON -- Is this the case that will break the presidential eligibility question wide open?

The Supreme Court conferred today on whether arguments should be heard on the merits of Kerchner v. Obama, a case challenging whether President Barack Obama is qualified to serve as president because he may not be a "natural-born citizen" as required by Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution.

Unlike other eligibility cases that have reached the Supreme Court, Kerchner vs. Obama focuses on the "Vattel theory," which argues that the writers of the Constitution believed the term "natural-born citizen" to mean a person born in the United States to parents who were both American citizens.

"This case is unprecedented," said Mario Apuzzo, the attorney bringing the suit. "I believe we presented an ironclad case. We've shown standing, and we've shown the importance of the issue for the Supreme Court. There's nothing standing in their way to grant us a writ of certiorari."

If the Supreme Court decides to grand the "writ of certiorari," it may direct a federal trial court in New Jersey to hear the merits of the case, or it may choose to hear the merits itself. The court's decision on the writ could be announced as early as Wednesday.

Limbaugh: 'We have an impostor . . . in the White House'

Rush Limbaugh: 'Impostor'serving in White House
WorldNetDaily
November 23, 2010

PALM BEACH, Fla. – Radio host Rush Limbaugh is again calling into question the constitutional eligibility of Barack Obama to serve as president, declaring him to be a phony.

"We have an impostor for all intents and purposes serving in the White House," Limbaugh said today.

The comment from the top-rated host came during his analysis of the disclosure that Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour, a purported representative of the Taliban negotiating with the Afghan government, actually turned out to be an impersonator.

Limbaugh said: "The impostor got into the equivalent of the White House in Afghanistan. Did they not ask this guy for some kind of identification? They clearly didn't. They clearly didn't ask this guy for his birth certificate. How in the world could they trust in a leader and even give money to somebody who has not been properly vetted? Well, because it happened here in the United States. We have an impostor for all intents and purposes serving in the White House."

'Liberals have a peculiar affection for felons, terrorists, and every other ilk of societal sediment'

By Chidike Okeem
AmericanThinker.com
November 23, 2010

The new TSA airport scanners have justifiably garnered a lot of attention and criticism. Frankly, the entire scheme is nothing more than a cheap contrivance to give the impression that Democrats care deeply about national security. Insofar as Democrats actually care about national security, it could not be more obvious that it is a mere afterthought to their main agenda of turning America into a tawdry imitation of socialist Europe. It is only an uninterested administration that views national security as a perfunctory and unserious task that, as a response to radical Islamic plane hijackers, would conceive of fondling every flyer -- including little Caucasian toddlers -- to look for bombs.

It is preposterous to burden innocent Americans with intrusive searches before they board airplanes because of the actions of Islamic terrorists -- who, surprisingly, always seem to effortlessly subvert airport security to commit their atrocities. If only airport security were a little more concerned with looking for people who fit the terrorist profile, then America would undoubtedly be safer.

Liberals' unwillingness to identify through profiling the overt differences between good Americans and the evil Islamic terrorists is terrifyingly consistent with their larger criminal justice perspective: leniency with violent felons while treating innocents as symbols of hate.

Obama Will Pardon The Turkey, But Will He Pardon God?

Obama's Godless Thanksgiving
By Jeffery Lord
The American Spectator
November 23, 2010

Did Abraham Lincoln just defeat Barack Obama?

Sure, there was that economy thing and ObamaCare and, well… the usual long list that began spicing up Republican poll numbers and the final results on election day.

But the approach of the Thanksgiving holiday reminds that maybe, just maybe, the real answer to the thorough repudiation of the Obama White House can be found in, of all things, two very different presidential proclamations for Thanksgiving.

The first, which was literally the first, was signed by Abraham Lincoln on October 3, 1863.

The second, by now a standard presidential duty of Lincoln's successors, was issued by Barack Obama on November 23, 2009.

The difference? The very notable difference that has been in one form or another telegraphed to the American people by the Obama White House.

God and His connection to American values had suddenly gone missing from a Thanksgiving Proclamation by a President of the United States.

Southern Poverty Law Center Adds Traditional Marriage Supporters To Their Hate-Groups List

By William A. Jacobson
Le-gal In-sur-rec-tion
November 23, 2010

I cannot begin to tell you how much it sickens me that the Southern Poverty Law Center, a group I supported many years ago because of its work against the Klan, has become a key player in labeling legitimate conservative political and religious groups as "hate groups."

I have documented how SPLC exaggerated the number and extent of "hate" groups, including counting two Klan groups in my home state of Rhode Island which simply don't exist; how SPLC falsely labeled a black conservative law professor "an apologist for white supremacists"; how the SPLC falsely accused a history professor of being on the payroll of Turkey because the professor's research questioned whether the killings of Armenians constituted "genocide"; and how SPLC falsely claimed that a speech by Sarah Palin at the first National Tea Party Convention was one of the landmark events in the "patriot movement" (which SPLC defines to mean Tim McVeigh-types).

Time and again SPLC, through its Hatewatch division, seeks to shut down debate by applying the "hate group" or similar epithets to political opponents, and those political opponents almost always are conservative.

Being labeled a "hate group" by SPLC can be devastating, because most of the country is unaware of how politicized SPLC has become.  Until I started blogging a little over two years ago, I too was working off of SPLC's prior reputation of fighting real hate groups, like the Klan.

SPLC is at it again, with a list of 18, "anti-gay" groups, 13 of whom also will make SPLC's upcoming "hate group" list.  Here is SPLC's explanation for how one gets on this list (emphasis mine):

Sudan:  U.S. Lifts Ban on Exports of Computers
AllAfrica.com
November 19, 2010

Washington--The U.S. president Barack Obama on Friday issued an executive order allowing exports of computers to Sudan in order to facilitate the referendum process in the South.

In a presidential memorandum released on Friday, Obama allowed "the export of computers and related equipment that enables the United Nations to facilitate the referendum in Southern Sudan pursuant to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement."

The referendum on southern Sudan independence is part of the 2005 north-south peace agreement, brokered by the Administration of President Bush.

Obama pledged recently to improve relations with the northern Sudan government if it fully and timely implements the deal.

Ground Zero Mosque Developers Seek $5 Million Federal Grant

By John Avlon
The Daily Beast
November 22, 2010

Developers of the controversial Park51 Islamic community center and mosque located two blocks from Ground Zero earlier this month applied for roughly $5 million in federal grant money set aside for the redevelopment of lower Manhattan after the attacks of September 11th, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

The audacious move stands to reignite the embers of a divisive debate that dominated headlines surrounding the ninth anniversary of the attacks this fall, say people vested in the issue.

The application was submitted under a “community and cultural enhancement” grant program administered by the Lower Manhattan Redevelopment Corporation (LMDC), which oversaw the $20 billion in federal aid allocated in the wake of 9/11 and is currently doling out millions in remaining taxpayer funds for community development. The redevelopment board declined to comment on the application (as did officials from Park51), citing the still ongoing and confidential process of determining the grant winners.

Watch the SCOTUSblog For Commentary On Kerchner Writ of Certiorari

You may want to bookmark the "Supreme Court of the United States Blog" so that you can follow up on comments that will be made if the Court agrees to hear the Kerchner et al vs. Obama et al. Writ of Certiorari, which challenges Barack Obama's eligibility to be President.

On the SCOTUSBlog "About Us" page, the authors state the following:
SCOTUSblog is devoted to comprehensively covering the U.S. Supreme Court—without bias and according to the highest journalistic and legal ethical standards.  The blog is provided as a public service and is sponsored by Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP.
Tom Goldstein and Amy Howe – husband and wife – founded the blog in 2002. Reporter Lyle Denniston joined a few years later.  Other permanent and part-time staff members have joined over time.  Significant contributions have come from lawyers and summer associates at Tom and Amy’s law firms, as well as their students at Stanford and Harvard Law Schools.  Now more than twenty people work on or write for the blog.

The blog generally reports on every merits case before the Court at least three times: prior to argument; after argument; and after the decision.  In certain cases, we invite the advocates to record summaries of their arguments for podcasts.  The blog notes all of the non-pauper cert. petitions that seek to raise a legal question which in Tom’s view may interest the Justices; Lyle gives additional coverage to particularly significant petitions.  For the merits cases and the petitions we cover, we provide access to all the briefs.

Many of the blog’s posts go beyond coverage of individual cases.  Each business day, we provide a "Round-up" of what has been written about the Court.  We regularly publish broader analytical pieces.  Lyle also comprehensively covers litigation relating to detainees in the "war on terrorism"—a topic of recurring interest at the Court.  The blog carries significant analysis of nominees to the Court.  In addition, various special projects—such as our thirty days of tributes to Justice Stevens—may span several weeks.  Significant books related to the Court are the subject of our "Ask the author" series.  A calendar lists significant dates for activity at the Court and programs relating to it.  We also regularly publish statistics relating to the Term.
Update:  Just to keep any comments made in perspective, most of the attorneys who work for Akin Gump also donate heavily to the Democrat party.

Tracking petitions on SCOTUSblog 4.0
By Kiran Bhat
November 17, 2010

The Supreme Court receives thousands of petitions for certiorari each year, but it chooses to hear only a tiny fraction of them. At SCOTUSblog, we search the docket daily for the petitions the Court is most likely to grant. The end results of this process on SCOTUSblog 4.0 are petition case pages, the “Petition of the day” feature, and the “Petitions We’re Watching” section of the website.

The process

We first narrow SCOTUSblog’s docket by screening out petitions that are unlikely to receive consideration. We exclude petitions filed pro se or in forma pauperis, as the Court rarely hears cases in which the petitioner represents him- or herself or cases in which court-imposed fees are waived for the petitioner. We exclude petitions for writs of mandamus and petitions for rehearings as well.

We then review the questions presented by each remaining petition for a few characteristics that dramatically increase the likelihood that the Court will grant certiorari. Cases with the potential to resolve disagreements between federal appellate courts are often of special interest to the Court, as are cases in which a defendant is eligible for capital punishment. The Court gives extra consideration to cases in which the petitioner is either the United States (or one of its officials or agencies) or one of the fifty states (or one of its officials). Finally, the Court itself demonstrates interest in certain cases by inviting the Solicitor General to file a brief expressing the views of the United States. SCOTUSblog covers petitions that meet at least some of these criteria.

We are living through history in the making. Please read or re-read this historic Petition to the U.S. Supreme Court asking them to support and defend the Constitution ... in particular Article II, Section 1, Clause 5, the presidential constitutional eligibility clause. Read or re-read the Petition then read this ad. Copies attached for your convenience. Then meditate on the words in both and then pray that the Justices do the right thing on Tuesday and support and defend our Constitution and Republic and grant Certiorari and take up our case and seek the truth about Mr. Obama the usurper, impostor, and fraud now occupying the Oval Office. Mr. Obama and his puppet masters and his enablers in political power and in the main stream media have perpetrated and allowed to continue the greatest fraud on this nation in the history of our Republic and he needs to be exposed and removed. See the ad linked to below and via the image at the left for an overview of the Petition and the issues.

Washington Times -- Kerchner et al v Obama & Congress et al Petition for Writ of Certiorari Scheduled for Conference on 23 Nov 2010 with the U.S. Supreme Court - Washington Times National Weekly edition - 22 Nov 2010 issues, page 5: http://www.scribd.com/doc/43541103/Kerchner-v-Obama-Petition-Scheduled-for-Conference-at-Supreme-Court-on-Tues-Nov-23-2010-WTNW-pg-5

QUESTIONS PRESENTED TO THE U.S. SUPREME COURT:
PETITION 10-446

1. Whether petitioners sufficiently articulated a case or controversy against respondents which gives them Article III standing to make their Fifth Amendment due process and equal protection claims against them.

2. Whether putative President Obama can be an Article II “natural born Citizen” if he was born in the United States to a United States citizen mother and a non-United States citizen British father and under the British Nationality Act 1948 he was born a British citizen.

3. Whether putative President Obama and Congress violated petitioners’ Fifth Amendment due process rights to life, liberty, safety, security, tranquility, and property and Ninth Amendment rights by Congress failing to assure them pursuant to the Twentieth Amendment that Obama qualified as an Article II “natural born Citizen” before confirming his electoral votes and by Obama refusing to conclusively prove that he is a “natural born Citizen.”

4. Whether Congress violated petitioners’ rights under the Fifth Amendment to equal protection of their life, liberty, safety, security, tranquility, and property by investigating and confirming the “natural born Citizen” status of presidential candidate, John McCain, but not that of presidential candidate, Barack Obama.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comments by CDR Kerchner (Ret):

Obama is not Article II constitutionally eligible to be the President and Commander of our military. Obama is NOT a "natural born Citizen" to constitutional standards. Obama's father was NOT a U.S. Citizen. Obama's father was not an immigrant to the United States. Obama's father was a foreign national, a British Subject. Obama is the child of an alien father who was sojourning in the U.S. attending college. Obama was born a British Subject via his father and is still such to this day. Obama has never conclusively proved he was born in Hawaii. Obama's paternal family in Kenya, Kenyan government officials, and newspapers in Kenya say he was born in Kenya. Obama's maternal grandmother likely falsely and illegally registered him as born in Hawaii to get him, her new foreign-born grandson, U.S. Citizenship.

History shows us that a popularly elected, but ineligible, chief executive in the executive branch of a government can be legally and constitutionally removed from office, e.g., Governor Thomas H. Moodie of North Dakota was a prime example. After he was sworn in and serving as Governor, the North Dakota State Supreme Court ordered Governor Moodie removed from office, after it was determined that he was constitutionally and legally ineligible to serve in the office to which he was popularly elected.
http://history.nd.gov/exhibits/governors/governors19.html

Also, two U.S. Senators although popularly elected and sworn in to the U.S. Senate were subsequently removed from office after it was learned that they were NOT constitutionally eligible when they were elected.
Albert Gallatin [U.S. Senator constitutionally ineligible and his seating unconstitutional and election & seating annulled]:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Gallatin

James Shields [U.S. Senator constitutionally ineligible and his seating unconstitutional and election & seating annulled]:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Shields
Thus it is very clear that winning a popular election does not trump or nullify the constitution of a state or the U.S. federal constitution. Obama is not constitutionally eligible to be the President and Command in Chief of the military and should be removed from office and his election, confirmation, and swearing in annulled.

Again, please take the time to read or re-read the Petition then read this ad. The questions and the main brief are only 36 succinctly written and easy to read pages. Then meditate on the words therein and then pray that the Justices do the right thing on Tuesday and support and defend our Constitution and Republic and grant Certiorari and take up our case and seek the truth about Mr. May God help us, save us, and protect us in the days ahead.

Red Alert: FCC Plans To Launch Net Neutrality Before GOP Takeover

Tech at Night:  Red Alert
By Neil Stevens
RedState.com
November 20, 2010

I know it’s a big day for Net Neutrality when I wake up and my Email Inbox is jammed full with links, so many basically saying the same thing: The FCC is on the move. I’m told it all goes back to a November 15 speech by FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, in which he expresses an urgency for the FCC to pass a bunch of new rules quickly. It’s a crisis, he says.

He then called out Google and Verizon, saying that their temerity to contribute to the debate “slowed down some other processes.” You see: the whole process of talking to industry is apparently a sham, and the only speech that counts is speech that leads the FCC closer to the Obama administration’s predetermined outcome.

And it’s that Net Neturality outcome we may be nearing after all. That’s the Red Alert.

Tech at Night’s good buddy Seton Motley at Big Govenrment brings us the key story: He’s now claiming that we must pass industry-crippling Net Neutrality restrictions in order to expand broadband access in America, and using that as the leverage to justify Title II reclassification. “That’ll happen,” he says. And further he’s going to gun hard for wireless services, something that Henry Waxman’s bill didn’t dare do, proving once again that the FCC is far outside the mainstream of even Congressional Democrats. Here’s Politico on the story, as well.

A Pastor's Thoughts: Islam and the Culture of Outrage

It's All the Rage:  Islam and the Culture of Outrage
By Hugh MacKenzie
AmericanThinker.com
November 21, 2010

Our Lady of Perpetual Outrage?  Well...not really -- the reason in this case being that you can't really imagine the Virgin Mary outraged, let alone perpetually so.  Perpetually Sorrowful...Perpetually Supportive...Perpetually Interceding...

But outraged?  Probably not.

Hower, there is one world faith that fits that mode very well:  Muslims seem to always be outraged about one thing or another.  Perpetual outrage describes their state of mind to a tee. (Thanks to Michelle Malkin for the phrase.)

The "Arab street" always seems to be in a furor over some perceived atrocity committed by the West.  Burning effigies, stomping and burning flags of various nations, waving swords, Korans, signs...chanting "death to  __________"...it's as if the whole victimology thing has infected a third of the world's population and has been ramped up and wrapped in a religious/moral package.  So what's beneath the wrappings?  What's the source and reason for so much hatred, vitriol, and rage?

Obama's Eligibility Challengers Go Down Wikipedia's 'Memory Hole'

Obama's paltry paper trail raises serious questions
By Diana West
WashingtonExaminer.com
November 21, 2010

Wikipedia, the widely read, online, multiauthored encyclopedia, features an entry on the term "memory hole," which originated with the prescient if not also clairvoyant George Orwell. The Wikipedia definition begins:

"A memory hole is any mechanism for the alteration or disappearance of inconvenient or embarrassing documents, photographs, transcripts, or other records ... particularly as part of an attempt to give the impression that something never happened."

Wikipedia itself may have just offered a good example of how the mechanism works when unknown, unknowable site authorities "took down" a new entry on Lt. Col. Terrence "Terry" Lakin's challenge to President Obama's eligibility to hold office almost as soon it went up.

I read a screen shot of the entry and it is factual and non-inflammatory. Did Lakin's page go down the memory hole?

FINALLY: My Chicago C4P Round Up & STAND UP!

Hello every0ne. My apologies for the delay in my round up and STAND UP of the Chicago http://www.conservatives4palin.com/ (C4P) Meet-up. It's been a busy week here in Los Angeles. Between getting back into the swing of things, planning for Thanksgiving, working on the Run Sarah Run project, and getting ready to put the Christmas tree up (can you guess the theme?), my post on Chicago kinda slipped through the cracks.

So here we go!

I flew in a day early to get my self adjusted and settled. In Los Angeles I did not have a Naked Body Scan, but coming back from Chicago on Monday was another story.

I had never been to Chicago before and riding in the taxi to the hotel I had a good look around, and wondered to myself where the famous neighborhood that Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, and Barack Hussein Obama all coincidentally live in. Hmmm...

Will GOP Let The Left-Wing Media Host Primary Debates in 2012?

Rise of conservative displeasure over Politico/NBC debate
By Amanda Carey
The Daily Caller
November 20, 2010

Earlier this month, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin mocked the D.C.-based news outlet Politico, describing it in an email to The Daily Caller, as “puppy-kicking, chain-smoking, porn producers.”
But if predictions of a Palin presidential bid in 2012 prove correct, the former Governor will subject herself to being thoroughly questioned and interrogated by the very same news outlet that has become the object of her contempt.

Shortly after Palin’s Politico-bashing comments erupted in a firestorm in media circles, Politico and NBC News announced plans to host the first Republican presidential primary debate at the Ronald Reagan Library in the spring of 2011. Some conservatives, however, are not happy with the idea of what they view as two left-of-center media outlets hosting a Republican debate.

Conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, in fact, penned a widely-circulated column in which he told probable GOP candidates to “just say no to Nancy Reagan”.

Science: Experts Have Successfully Tested Invisibility

Years ago while traveling, I read a British newspaper article about the discovery of DNA testing and thought, "Wow!", this would forever change criminal forensics, and that has proven to be true.  Now British and US scientists have discovered a "metamaterial" which creates a temporary cloak of invisibility.  This discovery may lead to military and other applications within the next five or 10 years, so put this story into your memory banks, especially if you research and invest in technology stocks.

Experts test cloaking technology
By Paul Rincon
BBCNews.co.uk

A US-British team of scientists have successfully tested a cloak of invisibility in the laboratory.

The device mostly hid a small copper cylinder from microwaves in tests at Duke University, North Carolina.

It works by deflecting the microwaves around the object and restoring them on the other side, as if they had passed through empty space.

But making an object vanish before a person's eyes is still the stuff of science fiction - for now.

TSA Security: Know Your Enemy

Sun Tzu on profiling:
Know your enemy and know yourself, find naught in fear for 100 battles. Know yourself but not your enemy, find level of loss and victory. Know thy enemy but not yourself, wallow in defeat every time.

With all the bad press the TSA has received recently, we can't be sure if the acronym stands for Transportation Security Administration, Touches Sensitive Areas or Truly Scandalous Attention.  But, for sure, its pat downs and sci-fi radiation screeners give many of us another good reason to avoid the increasingly unfriendly skies.  Yet while the TSA right now has supplanted the IRS as the bureaucracy we most love to hate, its policies are merely part of a longstanding cultural trend: The failure to recognize that the good of the many outweighs the good of the few.

It's the same reason why certain cities, most notably London, are now surveilling their residents with thousands of video cameras.  If you're not willing to administer punishment sufficient to deter all the criminally inclined save a few intractable miscreants, some of whom you can catch, the only other solution is to have an all-seeing Big Brother that can catch all.  It's much like treating a cancer: If you cannot target just the affected tissue, the only other solution is to treat the whole body.

'Inside Job' Film A Factual Flop

By Paul Sperry
Investor's Business Daily
November 17, 2010

Inside Job" bills itself as "the first film to expose the shocking truth behind the economic crisis." It exposes whoremongering Wall Street traders, economic consultants who lie on their resumes and Hank Paulson's conflicts.

But it doesn't answer what caused the crisis.

Of course, it thinks it does. "This is how it happened," the film confidently tells viewers before taking them, oddly enough, all the way back to the 1980s. Why then? Because the Reagan administration — "supported by economists and financial lobbyists" — started a 30-year regulatory vacation that fomented unparalleled "greed and immorality" on Wall Street.

Texas HB295 To Require Birth Certificate For A Candidate's Name To Appear On The Presidential Ballot

State representatives file birth certificate bill filed for presidential candidates
LubbockOnline.com
November 17, 2010

AUSTIN — A state representative on Tuesday filed a bill that would require any candidate for president or vice president of the United States to show his or her birth certificate to the Texas secretary of state, another indication of just how ambitious the conservative agenda for next year’s session of the Texas Legislature is expected to be.

“This bill is necessary because we have a president whom the American people don’t know whether he was born in Kenya or some other place,” Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, said in reference to President Barack Obama and of House Bill 295. “If you are running for president or vice president, you’ve got to show here in Texas that you were born in the United States and the birth certificate is your proof.”

Berman’s bill specifies that “the secretary of state may not certify the name of a candidate for president or vice-president unless the candidate has presented the original birth certificate indicating that the person is a natural-born United States citizen.”

Palin Pales in Comparison to Dem Gems

Palin Pales in Comparison to Dem Gems
By Larry Elder
Investor's Business Daily
November 15, 2010

How much of the "Sarah Palin is not ready for prime time" criticism is sincere? When the harping comes from the left, it's difficult to take it seriously. Try to follow the bouncing standards.

Barbara Walters gushed over John F. Kennedy Jr. and saw a political future for him. Never mind that the young man had flunked the New York bar exam — twice.

"Dumb" former President George W. Bush, caricatured as a slacker in an Oliver Stone movie, made better grades in college than did Al Gore, his opponent in 2000.

Gore dropped out of divinity school after earning five F's. Then he entered law school and dropped out. He won a Nobel Peace Prize for his anti-global-warming crusade, and his documentary won an Academy Award, but he got a D in science at Harvard.

Bush also scored higher on his verbal SAT than did Rhodes scholar and "brainy" presidential candidate Bill Bradley.

Getting America and Wisconsin Back On Track

As everyone knows by now the federal and state elections across the nation has shown the results of the Tea Party movement in getting our government back on track and our nation operated like a Jeffersonian Republic instead of a progressively socialist experiment that history of civilization shows is now workable, as well as, not conducive to personal freedom and liberties.
Here in Wisconsin, we now have a conservative-controlled state senate, assembly, and a republican governor. Now conceal carry and Second Amendment rights can no longer be vetoed, as well as other freedoms. Many are in hopes that the economy will pick up now that elected officials work to reduce intrusion upon and the size and scope the government bears upon our personal lives, as well as work together for the benefit of the people, the state and the nation in getting our country back on track.
To be fair, many Democrat Wisconsin elected officials are for conceal carry permits and state laws that obey the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
There are two arguments or methods of conceal carry rights to be administered ...

No kidding: Obama's Indonesian Nanny Was A Gay Tranvestite

No wonder Obama is confused, and no wonder he wants to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell . . .

Barack Obama had gay tranvesitte nanny in Indonesia
By Toby Harnden
Telegraph.co.uk

A delicious little detail buried away in Norimitsu Onishi’s excellent NYT piece on the childhood of Barack Obama (then known as Barry Soetero) in Jakarta:
His nanny was an openly gay man who, in keeping with Indonesia’s relaxed attitudes toward homosexuality, carried on an affair with a local butcher, longtime residents said. The nanny later joined a group of transvestites called Fantastic Dolls, who, like the many transvestites who remain fixtures of Jakarta’s streetscape, entertained people by dancing and playing volleyball.
Of course, this rather undermines the notion of Obama being strongly influenced by Islamic fundamentalism during this period. But it does underline the remarkable exoticness of his upbringing.
Not many parents would hire a gay transvestite nanny to look after their son. Not many American mothers would take a job in Indonesia and leave their son with her parents in Hawaii, as Obama’s mother Ann Dunham did for a period. Not many mothers would temporarily give their son another surname.
But whatever one thinks of these unusual parental choices – or of Obama’s politics and presidency – it has to be said that this very unconventional upbringing helped produce a remarkable person.

Palin's Advice To Freshmen Republicans

An Open Letter to Republican Freshmen Members of Congress
By Sarah Palin
November 13, 2010

Welcome to all Republican Freshmen and congratulations!

Congratulations to all of you for your contribution to this historic election, and for the contributions I am certain you will make to our country in the next two years. Your victory was hard fought, and the success belongs entirely to you and the staff and volunteers who spent countless hours working for this chance to put government back on the side of the people. Now you will come to Washington to serve your nation and leave your mark on history by reining in government spending, preserving our freedoms at home, and restoring America’s leadership abroad. Some of you have asked for my thoughts on how best to proceed in the weeks and months ahead and how best to advance an agenda that can move our country forward. I have a simple answer: stick to the principles that propelled your campaigns. When you take your oath to support and defend our Constitution and to faithfully discharge the duties of your office, remember that present and future generations of “We the People” are counting on you to stand by that oath. Never forget the people who sent you to Washington. Never forget the trust they placed in you to do the right thing.

Time For The House To Reduce Obama's Lifestyle Allowance

By Lauri B. Regan
AmericanThinker.com
November 12, 2010

Pundits, political analysts, and politicians on both sides of the aisle have offered their recommendation for items which should be placed at the top of the 112th Congress's legislative agenda. Surprisingly, in light of the negative press the Obamas have received relating to their recent junket to India, so far as I have seen, not one person has suggested including legislation limiting the amount of taxpayer funds that may be expended on presidential trips -- official or otherwise -- and the White House party budget. Like all government agencies, the White House operates on the basis of appropriations that originate in the House of Representatives, and it is incumbent on the House to exercise its responsibilities in guarding the taxpayers' money.

C4P Chicago Meet-up: The Prequel

The Chicago Conservatives4Palin (C4P) Meet-up officially begins with a Dinner and S.E. Cupp Book Signing on Friday night. But there were a few early birds who flew in thursday and had a little Veterans Day Dinner together.

Brian Champlin flew in from cooky Berkley (it's okay for me to call Berkley cooky, 1. Because it is and 2. Because I live in Hollywood and I know exactly what cooky is) Brian is a Stanford/Berkley Greek/Latin scholar...(but aren't Sarah Palin supporters supposed to be dumb? hmmm)

Here's Mr. Bud from Texas. Mr. Bud is retired and said the pot roast was tough. (I love Don's C4P hat!)

Jon didn't have far to travel this time. Last july he flew to San Diego for the C4P Meet-up but he lucked out this time. Jon's just a 30 minute train ride away!

And this is the lady of the hour! A.J. Kelshiker is a Marine. What an honor it was to celebrate Veterans Day with A.J.

None of this would be possible without the organizing (country NOT community) skills of Miss Beehive. Miss B works tirelessly so everything goes smoothly at the C4P Meet-ups.

Obviously I was there too...

,

The rest of the gang arrives tomorrow. It should be quite a weekend. Besides S.E. Cupp, Janne Myrdal, Karen Allen, Ron Devito, Dr. Gina Loudon, Jedediah Bila, and Tammy Bruce are scheduled to speak.

The C4P Chicago Meet-up should prove to be a wonderful opportunity for fellow Grizzlies to meet, network, share ideas, and maybe even make plans? Grrrrrr.

Stay tuned. I'll keep you posted on the weekends activities.

EXCLUSIVE: Sarah Palin's Alaska Screening SWAG

Here in Hollywood when you attend a movie premiere, screening, party, or almost any excuse for an "event" you usually get a goody bag filled with all sorts of things. They can have all sorts of things in them. Shampoo, keychains, coupons, mugs, or even crazy stuff like watches, airline tickets, and diamonds! But regardless of what is in the bag, it is called the same thing. It's called SWAG. Hollywood loves it's acronyms and this is no exception. SWAG = Stuff We All Get.

Last night several cities were treated to screenings of "Sarah Palin's Alaska". I thought it might be fun to take a look at what kind of SWAG the lucky attendees got to take home as souvenirs. (Hmmm, if a certain someone becomes the first lady President will these items become collectors items?) (Are they already collectors items?)

The guests got a free soft drink and popcorn before the screening. The theaters held 400-500 people, and no photo's were allowed. However...a little bird sent me these pictures of what the guests got after the screening.

Each guest was given a little stuffed black bear with a Sarah Palin's Alaska tag and some post cards of the Palin family and scenes of Alaska. The bear is made out of 100% authentic baby otter fur (JUST KIDDING PETA)

The lucky guests also got these really cool postcards with the following text on the back of each:

The Palins meet the stars of the Iditarod, the trainers and the dogs themselves, on top of the breathtaking Punchbowl glacier. Ther trainers and dogs live on the top of this glacier for months at a time as they train to win the race which is over 1,000 miles long.

Sarah and her youngest daughter Piper are on the beach at Bristol Bay. Bristol Bay is the easternmost arm of the Bering Sea, which surrounds the Southwestern edge of Alaska.

Sarah, her brother, Chuck and their kids go to Nome, which is the largest town on Alaska's west coast, to hunt for gold. The hunt involves kayaking a glacier that was once part of the 1890's Gold Route.

A guest who attended the screening last night said:

Thomas,

Sarah Palin's Alaska is going to be an awesome show. In the first part coming up Sunday everyone will get to see Williow and Piper. There are a couple shots of Trig. They will go fishing and mountain climbing. People will see the vast wilderness of Alaska and the beauty of God's creation that Sarah talks about all the time. It truly is a great wonder, a majesty place that so fills Sarah's heart.

Well folks. I wish I had the groovy postcards. Maybe there is a TLC online store?

Looks like Sarah Palin's Alaska is going to be a hit.

Be sure to tune in!

Don't miss the TV event everyone will be talking about! Premiering Sunday, November 14th at 9 pm EST.

Demcorats must fight federal workers on rising pay; it's no time for public sector salaries to soar
By Joshua Greenman
November 10, 2010

If Democrats know what's good for them, if they really care about connecting to the beleaguered middle class, they ought to react with strength and clarity to the embarrassing new report that federal workers' pay is soaring.

Otherwise, they cede this very fertile political ground to Republicans, who are already jumping all over the news as evidence of an out-of-control federal bureaucracy.

The USA Today analysis, based on data from the Office of Personnel Management, says that pay of federal workers is up broadly since 2005. And the number of highly-paid staffers has increased at every federal agency.

The very first sentence puts it starkly - in language that would infuriate any struggling or unemployed person, especially around tax time: "The number of federal workers earning $150,000 or more a year has soared tenfold in the past five years and doubled since President Obama took office."

De Facto Shariah Law in America

By Janet Levy
AmericanThinker.com
November 9, 2010

Is the United States today a de facto shariah state? A close look at recent events points to some alarming conclusions about the tenets of shariah law taking hold in our once-proud constitutional republic and the unwitting, unequal application of existing U.S. laws. The result is that when it comes to religious expression, Muslims now enjoy more freedom of religion and speech under our Bill of Rights than non-Muslims. Equal protection under the laws of our country holds for Muslims far better than for non-Muslims. Several recent examples illustrate this point.

Congressional Research Service Explains Why Obama's Eligibility Was Not Vetted

'There is no specific federal agency' to review candidates for federal office
By Jerome Corsi
WorldNetDaily.com
November 8, 2010

A congressional document posted on the Internet confirms no one – not Congress, not the states and not election officials – bothered to check Barack Obama's eligibility to be president, and that status remains undocumented to this day.

It's because state and federal law did not require anyone in Congress or elsewhere to check to see if Obama was a "natural born Citizen" under the meaning of Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution, according the document.

The analysis by the Congressional Research Service, a research arm of the U.S. Congress, openly admits no one in the federal government, including Congress, ever asked to see Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate. It explains no one was required to do so.

Will The Fed Ruin America?

This author thinks not . . .

By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard
Telegraph.co.uk
November 7, 2010

At each stage of the great 20-year debt bubble we were told by the US Federal Reserve that it was not the job of central banks to worry about the dotcom boom or the surging cost of California property or the price of any other asset in the grip of credit fever.

A Princeton professor named Ben Bernanke was chief theorist for this doctrine. At the Fed’s Jackson Hole conclave in 1999 he gave a speech laden with data arguing that central banks should ignore asset booms and focus exclusively on inflation.

Fed chair Alan Greenspan liked the speech so much that groomed Bernanke for the next vacancy at the Fed Board in Washington. He had a last found an academic willing to clothe his own proclivities with Ivy League respectability.

Yet after leading America and the world into calamity with this seductive mischief – which overlooked the well-documented risks of credit seizures once a debt bubble pops – we are now told by Bernanke that the purpose of printing more money is to push up house prices and feed Wall Street.

“Higher stock prices will boost consumer wealth and help increase confidence, which can also spur spending,” he wrote in the Washington Post. So there we have it, the `Bernanke Put’ in open daylight, the affirmation of asymmetric monetary policy. Let booms run unchecked: shield investors from loss when things go wrong.
