The US will spend about Sh1 billion [~$12,369,000] on local youth programmes to facilitate their active participate[sic] in decision-making.
The local United States Ambassador, Michael Rannerbeger, said the grant would economically empower the youth and help them generate income to improve their livelihoods.
He said the youth could only effectively embrace democracy and desirable changes if they were empowered economically.
"The Obama Administration will continue to support youth programmes to facilitate their involvement in democratisation," Rannerberger said, in Kitale.
