Another fabulous, provocative painting by Jon McNaughton. This one is called "The Forgotten Man" and shows past Presidents and politicians standing behind a lone figure who personifies every man, woman and child in America. Barack Obama figures prominently at the front with his foot resting on a trampled Constitution, while many in the background applaud. McNaughton has also made an evocative video about the creation of this painting, which appears below. Apparently, Glenn Beck and Michelle Malkin are talking about this work of art as well.
Prints are available from McNaughtonArt.com.
He should have mentioned what the unconstitutional acts are.

The man on the bench is being represented by the One Nation Rally at the National Mall on this very day, October 2, 2010. With incendiary pictures and speeches such as this, our nation will remain divided - you don't seem to want to come together.
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't somebody paint a picture with George Bush Jr. stuffing his pockets with our money while being in office letting his buddies and perhaps himself raise gasoline prices as the rest of us are going through hard times and sliding into more of a ressession or maybe now a depression. When in our lifetime have prices ever hit $4.00 a gallon. My gosh people , get your head out of your butts. Republicans want us to think Barack Obama caused all the problems we have today but as i remember it Bill Clinton had the national deficit down and heading in the right direction. Bush goes in office and instead of going directly after Osama Bin Laden our troups are heading into Iraq protecting rich oil barons of Kuwait and sure enough theres the reason to raise gas prices again. Ever notice they bring the prices down a penny at a time, but if anything at all even looks unstable the price goes up twenty to twenty five cents. I'm not an Obama fan at all either, in fact i'm very disapointed with him since he's been in office not much has been done to get jobs for more Americans. Then again if you listen to Fox news or Rush Limbaugh they try to make it look as though another Democrat is screwing things up. Far as i'm concerned we need to do away with both parties and start over new . The constitution is 200 years old and needs to be rewriten to accommidate the times. We need a flat tax so everybody can be taxed fairly without loopholes lawyers and attorney's twist to thier favors. Mr. McNaughton perhaps thats you on the bench confused by what you here from the Republican media.
ReplyDeleteThe painting gets the point across very thoughtfully and congratulations to this artist who has the courage to speak out. Too many times the silent majority skirt the real issues facing the country to avoid confronting the intellectual community. As a result the country is now leaning toward the very socialistic views of the current administration led by Obama, Pelosi and Reid. This painting is a wake up call for those who firmly hold the principles of the founding fathers as a necessity for the continuing success of the country, i.e. smaller government, fiscal responsibility, lower taxes and individual and corporate responsibility to do the right thing. I hope this painting gets widespread circulation so as to force voters to really think through their choices for the upcoming election. We were promised change in the last election, and nothing has changed and in fact has gotten worse, so we the people need to wake up and force change by voting in a lot of new faces to the Congress. It can't get any worse than it is now.
