Horrific Child Abuse Continues Unabated in Afghanistan

Will no one save the children?

Afghanistan's dirty little secret

Western forces fighting in southern Afghanistan had a problem. Too often, soldiers on patrol passed an older man walking hand-in-hand with a pretty young boy. Their behavior suggested he was not the boy's father. Then, British soldiers found that young Afghan men were actually trying to "touch and fondle them," military investigator AnnaMaria Cardinalli told me. "The soldiers didn't understand."

All of this was so disconcerting that the Defense Department hired Cardinalli, a social scientist, to examine this mystery. Her report, "Pashtun Sexuality," startled not even one Afghan. But Western forces were shocked - and repulsed.

For centuries, Afghan men have taken boys, roughly 9 to 15 years old, as lovers. Some research suggests that half the Pashtun tribal members in Kandahar and other southern towns are bacha baz, the term for an older man with a boy lover. Literally it means "boy player." The men like to boast about it.

  1. Absolutely horrendous. This culture has lost it as have many others who practice the very same thing and have for centuries. It is always the children who suffer. Even in this country where it is condemned and made punishable. Yet it still survives. The difference is that in Afghanistan, it is a now acceptable practice. Who knows where else this is practiced. I have personally seen it in the Philippines in the 70’s.

There have been so many senseless acts towards children these days. This is not a problem unique to cultures today. It has always been a problem through mankind's history. Regardless, it is a sad thing when children are abused, injured or killed and even more so when done by the hands of unloving and thoughtless parents. If anyone should be trusted to take care of children, it should be expected to be their parents.

Who else should have an inbred natural concern and care for a child than their mother and father? Yet more and more children are being exposed at such young ages to sinful natures and abusive situations by their own parents and/or guardians much less the public who are thinking of only themselves and treating their children worse than animals. It breaks my heart to read of these situations.

Jude was prepared to write about the common salvation offered to mankind and was stricken enough to circumvent that approach and instead, talk to the brotherhood about a growing evil presence that he saw happening. Much of what he warned about, we see even today and has encroached into families all around us and continues to grow. He describes them very graphically and in verses 12 and 13 he says, "...They are clouds without water, carried about by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots; raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever."

The apostle, Jude, inspired by God to write, is visibly angered and unhappy with what he was seeing. So what can we do? We can't do much for those out of our reach. Just continue praying and offer to folks around us a better answer to their sins. To show them the salvation that God has offered to those who seek Him and respond to the pure truths of His Word. That is the only answer. We have much to do, brethren, for the sake of every soul and especially for the defenseless and sinless children.

Matt 18: 1-5: At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

  2. Pedarasty, as well as abuse of women, has traversed the world and many cultures for thousands of years, so this is not a new problem. In some places and at certain times, these behaviors have been considered perfectly acceptable and at other times they have been labeled as a crime. Look the term up on Wikipedia to see what I mean.

Right now, in the Middle East, we might be able to influence people's thinking about these behaviors so long as our presence is welcome there, but the chances of winning over Muslims of this ilk to our views, which are Judeo-Christian, is remote at best in our lifetime.

This is one of many reasons we must not give up fighting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda and any other similarly-minded peoples, because if we cannot get a foothold into those parts of the world, we will have little chance of helping the innocents.

In my view, and that of many others, those abused innocents grow up to be sexually neurotic. As a result of their experiences, and the promise of the Q'uran, they become jihadists who try to kill us along with themselves so that they can go to sexual paradise.

  3. You are spot on. This thought process must be resisted or it will take a strong hold on our own culture as it has in England and taking effect in Wisconsin. Their sites are on New York and it grows like a cancer.
I believe your view of the effects of pedarasty is a very valid one.
