Citing space constraints, Mayor Bloomberg has not invited New York firefighters to attend the memorial ceremony at Ground Zero on Sunday. My initial reaction to this was outrage. However, at this point in time I'm going to give Bloomberg the benefit of the doubt. He may have a strategic reason for keeping them away from Ground Zero.
New York is on high alert due to a credible terrorist threat, supposedly set to occur on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Bloomberg has known about this threat for some time, so I wonder if he wants to keep the firefighters on duty in the event terrorists succeed in another 9/11-style attack on the city. Whether the threatened attack occurs at Ground Zero, or elsewhere in New York, firefighters will be called upon once again to lay their lives on the line.
The following video is in rememberance of those we lost on 9/11/2001. God has surely blessed their courageous souls.
Thank you for reminding us about the selflessness of Firefighters everywhere!
