Thought you might be interested in the actual text of the speech that supposedly led to the "Ode", as it refers to the resistance that Thomas Jefferson faced when he made the Louisiana Purchase. Truman was using it as a springboard to discuss his Great Society by using the analogy that the "insanity" of that purchase created St. Paul, MN where he was giving the speech.
