Sarah Obama Refers to Barack Obama as an Orphan Who Passed Through Her Hands!
On Monday, May 5, 2010, Mama Sarah Obama received an honorary doctorate from the Great Lakes University of Kisumu. Officially they say she received the Ph.D. because of the help she gave to orphans and widows in her village of Kogelo, Kenya. During her acceptance, Sarah Obama appealed to the public, saying she believes they, too, should help vulnerable people in their society.
Included in her words of thanks, Sarah Obama made the following statement, which could be interpreted in more than one way. For example, is she telling us Barack Obama was actually an orphan whom she tended, or does she mean he passed through her hands at the moment of his birth, or could she be referring to something else? What do you think she meant?

“This is a show of blessing from God, since I have always dedicated my time to tend to the orphans. Even the US president passed through my hands.”

US President Obama's grandmother is probably the world’s most famous granny right now. The other day, The Great Lakes University of Kisumu awarded the 87-year-old grandmother a doctorate.
Dr Sara Obama deserves her time in the limelight, because she is the only African and black woman ever to be a grandmother of an American president, the most powerful man on earth. But she also reveals something about Kenya.
==================================
Update: Unlike his grandmother, Barack Obama failed to help the orphans of Kogelo. This doesn't surprise Americans because as many who naively voted for him have discovered, Barack has become notorious for breaking promises. Interestingly, the author of this article refers to Sarah Obama as Barack's "step-grandmother." In our culture, that would only be true if Sarah and Barack were not related by blood. >>
